Meet Dr. Douglas Phillips.
It turns out general dentistry was only the beginning.
Dr. Phillips is a well-respected dentist and educator in the field of advanced restorative, cosmetic, and general dentistry. An honors graduate of the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Phillips completed a General Practice Residency in the US Air Force in 1980. After two years of service, he established a private practice in Arkansas before relocating to Asheville in 1998. Through rigorous effort, Dr. Phillips has continually broadened his skills in aesthetic, restorative, and implant dentistry through his completion of advanced courses.
As one such example, Dr. Phillips completed the Mastery Level courses at Spear Education, a nationally known training center for postgraduate skills in advancements in prosthodontic, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry. Upon completion of Dr. Phillips’ work there, Frank Spear, DDS, MSD, the founder and director of Spear Education, appointed Dr. Phillips as a visiting faculty mentor to his teaching staff. In addition to his full-time practice in Asheville, Dr. Phillips serves as a mentor for dentists who are involved in their postgraduate education at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida.
Dr. Phillips has also completed extensive training in implant dentistry at the prestigious Misch Implant Institute and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He is a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Spear Faculty Study Club, the L.D. Pankey Alumni Association, the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Buncombe County Dental Society, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the only nonprofit professional association dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine. The American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine has awarded Dr. Phillips with Diplomate status, designating him as a highly skilled dentist with the in-depth knowledge, skill, and ability to treat patients with sleep-disordered breathing.
Dr. Phillips can help restore you to restful, sound sleep by treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. Being a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine provides him with access to educational resources and practice management tools that help him better serve his patients by providing the highest quality of care in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
When Dr. Phillips isn’t at the office, he enjoys doing other things that he loves: mentoring, reading, cooking, and wine tasting. He is also active in his church discipleship class. Dr. Phillips and his wife, Kathryn, love to spend time with their three children and three adorable young grandchildren.
